About me

I am a design leader and UX expert with a focus on financial services. Over the past 15 years, I have led design teams and carried out design, research and digital strategy for many organisations including HSBC, Lloyds Bank, VISA, American Express, SWIFT, Barclays, Nest Pensions, the NHS, Public Health England, BP, Sainsbury’s, Airbus, the Ports of Rotterdam & Sonagal, Twitter, Bupa, Smiths Detection, Hitachi. My expertise is in building and inspiring design teams to deliver great outcomes and experiences, especially in bringing elegant solutions to complex problem-spaces.

By it’s nature, design eludes easy categorisation. I see myself as equally Design leader, UX Designer, Service Designer, Organisational Designer, Business Strategist, Researcher, Technologist, Creative Facilitator. Even the smallest changes to an interface can have ramifications that cascade through an organisation and affect relationships with clients, colleagues and partners. Therefore, I believe designers must move across multiple levels of focus, and ensure multiple dimensions are included in their analysis and outputs. Great design is inherently interdisciplinary, able to uniquely cut across silos and bring together the aims and values of businesses, technology and people. Design is a way of thinking and approaching problems that reaches beyond the obvious and apparent to find solutions that transcend, surprise and delight.

I have degrees in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Fine Art and an Executive MBA from Imperial College, enabling me to bring deep human insights, creativity and sophisticated strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills to my work.
